Cono Sur Chosen Green Company of the Year
Cono Sur Vineyards & Winery won the title of Green Company of the Year 2011, awarded by the prestigious British magazine Drinks Business, at their Green Awards on March 7th at the Folly in London.
While Cono Sur has long been involved in sustainable practices, this accolade comes after the significant achievement of the ISO 14 064 certification in 2010. This certification, granted by CarboNZero through CEMARS™ (Certified Emissions Measurement and Reduction Scheme), is recognized throughout the 50 largest export markets and placed Cono Sur as the first winery in South America and third in the world to measure its Carbon Footprint.
Another important effort that contributed to this award was Cono Sur’s CarbonNeutral® delivery status, obtained in 2007 and renewed each year, which certifies that the winery balances its CO2 emissions from shipping its wine. Together with the introduction of lightweight bottles in the company’s entry-level range in 2009, they were essential advances in the company’s sustainable efforts.
Receiving the title of Green Company of the Year is an important recognition of Cono Sur’s continuous efforts to reduce its impact on the environment and an excellent addition to its green credentials.
This award positions Cono Sur as one of the leading wineries in sustainable production worldwide.
