Cono Sur receives gold medal at the 2011 Citadelles du Vin Competition

Cono Sur 20 Barrels Limited Edition Syrah 2008 was awarded the Trophée Citadelles, the highest distinction at the Citadelles du Vin awards on June 18th, held at this year’s Vinexpo in Bordeaux, France.

The Citadelles du Vin international wine competition, created in 1992 and endorsed by OIV (Organisation Internationale de la Vigne et du Vin), invites a panel of international judges to blind-taste wines from over 300 appellations, and is one of the world’s major viticultural events.

This award comes after receiving 91 points and being named “Editor’s Choice” in the February 2011 Buying Guide for the well renowned American Wine Enthusiast Magazine.

From the Limarí Valley in Chile, this cool-climate Syrah has been called a “head-turner” and stands out for its nose of blackberries and full palate of boysenberry, licorice, dark plum, pepper, chocolate and espresso.
