Chile hosted the Concours Du Meilleur Sommelier Du Monde 2010, an activity that took place between the 10th and the 17th of April and received official delegations from 50 member countries of the Association de la Sommellerie Internationale (ASI).
Besides participating in the contest, the group attended various activities to learn more about Chilean culture and gastronomy. Among them, a group of 30 people – journalists and sommeliers - visited Campo Lindo Estate, one of Cono Sur’s vineyards located in San Antonio Valley. The guests took a bike ride through the vineyard, enjoyed a tasting led by winemaker Adolfo Hurtado, and ended the journey with a lunch of typical Chilean dishes.
On April 13th, the sommeliers visited Concha y Toro vineyards and wineries located in Pirque, close to Santiago. The place was the perfect setting for a tasting of the holding’s Icon wines, bringing together all its winemakers: Marcelo Papa (Maycas de Limarí); Ignacio Recabarren (Carmín de Peumo), Álvaro Espinoza (Emiliana), Michel Friou (Almaviva), Enrique Tirado (Don Melchor), and Cono Sur’s Adolfo Hurtado, who presented Ocio Pinot Noir 2008, the vineyard’s Icon Wine.
