“Something a little different from Chardonnay: this Viognier has an exotic charm, with notes of melon and crystallized fruits. Pair with the Scandinavian roast turkey.”

“Chilean Pinot Noir is something that has really caught my attention these last couple of years. The country has become synonymous with Bordeaux-varietals, yet it shows massive promise in the cooler vineyard sites of Colchagua and Casablanca. Great Burgundian character, with some earthiness, and much more focused and structured than most Pinot Noirs from Chile… this wine is the perfect example of why I believe this country has so much Pinot Noir potential. Big black fruit character on the nose, and just a hint of kirsch. The palate mixes those black fruits with red fruit, along with baby’s bottom tannins. Expect this wine to last 7-10 years in the cellar, easily.”

“Hats off to Adolfo Hurtado, the young winemaker who almost single-handedly proved Chile could produce excellent Pinot Noir, once thought to be the preserve of vineyards in France and New Zealand. His achievement certainly finds expression in Cono Sur’s more upmarket numbers such as 20 Barrels — but I’d argue this bargain is, euro-for-euro, the most impressive of the lot.”

“A core of fragrant sweet grapefruit, grass, herbs and minerality — this is Sauvignon unlike Sonoma or Marlborough, New Zealand, or Bordeaux — it’s the best from Chile. The flavors dance on the palate and resonate on the finish. Grapes are organically grown in the San Antonio Valley. Note the back label: “A wine symbolized by a bicycle and ruled only by nature’s cycles.” Workers ride bicycles to the winery and the vineyard — there are no carbon emissions from cars. The labels are made from recycled paper. This is the future of wine. Now.”

“This is Pinot on a par with the Santa Lucia Highlands of Monterey County, Calif., and the Carneros region of Napa and Sonoma counties. It explodes with dark cherry, black plum, vanilla and mocha character. Tannins are smooth as silk. The gentle smoke and spice off the barrels are seamlessly woven in. All the character reverberates on the finish.”

“This is Pinot that screams black cherry, raspberry, plums and brown baking spices. It has nice depth of flavors, good weight in the mouth and balance. It’s a dream for the price.”

“I have had several glasses of your ‘Vision’ Pinot Noir in a restaurant in London, and it’s one of the nicest fruity Pinot Noir’s that I’ve had anywhere!”

“I don’t typically like to drink white wine but I tried your Bicycle Sauvignon Blanc the other day and was shocked by how much I enjoyed it. I just ordered a case of it to keep at home. It’s a really tasty wine.”
