For clarity’s sake, an organic wine is basically a wine made from organically grown grapes, meaning they were farmed and harvested entirely without the use of man-made chemicals, whether in the form of fertilisers, pesticides, herbicides, insecticides or fungicides.
In 1999 we began our organic viticulture project with 40 hectares of Chimbarongo vineyards, in the Colchagua Valley. In 2003, after the necessary 3 year transition period, we produced our first wine – a Cabernet Sauvignon / Carmenere – made from organically grown grapes, certified by BCS Oeko Garantie GMBH Germany. Since then 210 more hectares of different varieties have been added to the organic program.
In 2009, the three varieties that were part of the Sustainable Agriculture range -Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir- became part of our Cono Sur Organic range, after obtaining the organic certification.

Motivated by the development of eco-friendly practices, for some years now Cono Sur has promoted the organic wine production in Chile, mainly because of the tremendous benefits organic culture brings for everyone: the environment, the consumer and the vineyards’ workers.
