Adolfo Hurtado / Chief Winemaker
Adolfo Hurtado studied Agronomy at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, so he could specialize in winemaking later on. In 1997 Adolfo joined Cono Sur, where he had to handle both vineyards and winery. He remembers that “Everything was at square one, but the base was already solid: Cono Sur would only make top quality wines.” Afterwards, there was a sustainable sales increase, and 1998 was a good year. Adolfo’s style was now evolving, and he was providing Cono Sur with a wide array of grape sources and varieties, which keeps on growing.
Adolfo has leaded Cono Sur into what it is today, one of the largest wineries in Chile and one of the largest producers of Pinot Noir in the world, in which environment concern and innovation policies work hand by hand when making top quality wines. According to him, “Cono Sur understands and has achieved the best versions of New World wines. Our products convey the taste of new wine regions, through the aromatic intensity of fruit and the elegant concentration of ever-fuller palates”.
Adolfo’s talent and passion was been worldly recognized:
