Cono Sur's Pinot Noir wines from San Antonio Valley

Every wine reflects its terroir and the conditions under the grapes were grown, nevertheless we can say that the Pinot Noir is one of the most honest varieties, no features of its terroir goes unnoticed. And that’s exactly why we’ll talk about Single Vineyard Pinot Noir and Reserva Especial Pinot Noir. Two of Cono Sur wines that are all about the terroir.

The devil is on the details. That’s exceptionally true when we talk wine, even more so when it comes to Pinot Noir. Understanding the complexity and the potential of this variety – and after starting the “Pinot Noir Project in 1999” – Cono Sur gathered the perfect conditions to obtain a wine that is one of a kind: Single Vineyard Pinot Noir.

The maximum expression of a terroir:  a wine made with grapes not only from the same estate, but from the same block, a privileged area located in one of the best valleys in Chile for the variety.

Its grape comes from San Antonio Valley, more specifically from Block n° 21 in Campo Lindo Estate, a block named Viento Mar (Sea Breeze), the highest point in the estate that benefits greatly from the winds that come from the Pacific Coast, located just 15km west. The red clay soils, dry spring season, intense luminosity, deliver grapes of great color, expressive aromas and exceptional concentration.

These grapes are later turned into Single Vineyard Pinot Noir, an intense ruby red wine, with notes of raspberries, plum and red berries, with great acidity and smooth tannins, that pairs perfectly with matured cheeses, poultry and some red meats.

Reserva Especial Valley Collection Pinot Noir

There are plenty of wines, but just a few are chosen to represent a Valley that for years has created a solid reputation for being one of the best origins for Pinot Noir. But that is precisely the definition of our Reserva Especial Pinot Noir, a wine that embodies the concept “Valley Collection”. But what does that mean?

Reserva Especial Valley Collection is a wine brand in which every valley is represented but its emblematic variety. For example, Reserva Especial VC Sauvignon Blanc comes from Casablanca, while Reserva Especial VC Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Aconcagua. And, as you can expect, the  Pinot Noir comes from San Antonio.

Reserva Especial Pinot Noir is a great representative of this valley, with fresh fruity aromas perfectly blended with coffee and cocoa; smooth tannins and great expression; this wine has a pleasant and persistent finish,  ruby red color and goes great with white meats, vegetables and soft cheeses.

Single Vineyard Pinot Noir and Reserva Especial Pinot Noir are the perfect example of a terroir’s importance when creating a quality wine.
